Proactive versus Reactive personalities
Proactive versus Reactive personalities
One reason for making the space-n-time for yourself
within the perceived mostly social-cultural chaos..
Is that you’re enabling yourself to look prospectively ahead to foresee what you might want to do and make plans that would enhance and maximize the possibility of that reality. Anything less would be putting yourself in a vulnerable position of having to be reactive to the circumstances of the moment, than being ahead of such vulnerable moments.
More than the maxim, ‘A failure from a failure to plan’, but the attitude of being so emotionally invested in your own self-centered, gratification as your focus that you have myopically closed out the cognizance of alternate perspectives that would provide a broader range of scenarios. That myopia, much like a pet dog or cat that’s so fixated on what’s right before them that they are oblivious to what could be even better just beyond their focus.
Extrapolating this on a cultural and social level:
We get so invested and associated with the daily and seasonal cycles of our habits, that there’s an emotional gravitation to those ‘habits’. Unless there is some significant dissatisfaction with that cycle of triggering habits, we have a subconscious, if not a conscious explicit bias and rationale for continuing in those habits.
If those habits have us thinking of the near-n-short term gratifications and dismiss the caveats of not considering their long term implications and effects, then we subject ourselves to reacting in a ‘flight-or-fight’ reactionary mode than in a proactive and prospective creative role. Tis better that we should be studiously enhancing, than defensively protecting that which may not be worthy of that preservation of protection.
